HYTHIRM Project for Shuttle Orbiter Thermography During Reentry

Ron Dantowitz, Clay Centr Observatory, Dexter and Southfield Schools, Brookline, MA
An overview is given about the HYTHIRM Project for Shuttle Orbiter Thermography During Reentry project. We are going to image the reentry of several orbiters in the NIR, SWIR, MWIR and LWIR to determine boundary layer heating and separation during reentry. Others interested in reentry imaging for spectral or other reasons might wish to see what we are working on, or become involved in HYTHIRM as well. A special session is organized for the AIAA 40th Thermophysics Conference (session 50 TP-9) at the Double Tree Hotel Seattle Airport in Seattle, Washington, on June 23-26, 2008.
